Where Theodor Runs the Government

Rome is gorgeous, historic, and full of marble masterpieces… and our tiny fart is 2, so he mostly wants: space, animals, and buttons to press. This page is our “happy kid = happy parents” plan.

Villa Borghese: big park energy. Maximum toddler freedom (supervised).

1) Villa Borghese (Big Park Mode)

Villa Borghese is our reset button. A huge green park with paths, shade, fountains, and the kind of open space that makes Theodor instantly 37% more reasonable. Perfect for stroller cruising, snack breaks, and letting the little mastermind run in circles like he’s charging up his batteries.

  • Best for: burning energy, shade breaks, “just one more lap” negotiations.
  • Parent win: it’s scenic enough that even chaos looks cinematic.
  • Kid win: wide paths + stuff to point at every 4 seconds.

2) Bioparco Zoo (Animals = Instant Joy)

Bioparco is our “guaranteed smiles” card. Animals do the heavy lifting: the kid is fascinated, we get to walk around, and everyone forgets about the concept of time for a while.

  • Best for: morning excitement or post-nap “we need a win” vibes.
  • Strategy: do the must-see animals first, then treat the rest like bonus levels.
  • Snack warning: zoo + hunger is a classic plot twist. Bring supplies.

3) Explora Museum (Hands-On Kid Science Magic)

Explora is the opposite of “don’t touch.” It’s interactive, playful, and designed for curious small humans. Translation: Theodor gets to explore safely, and we get a break from saying “no” every 11 seconds.

  • Best for: rainy day plans, high-energy afternoons, and parent sanity.
  • What to expect: hands-on exhibits, kid-focused zones, lots of “try this!” moments.
  • Reality check: it can get busy—early arrival is our secret weapon.

Practical Bits (The “We Came Prepared” Section)

  • Stroller life: Villa Borghese is stroller heaven; museum zones can be tighter but still manageable.
  • Bring water: running + sun = instant thirst + instant emotions.
  • Snack diplomacy: carry simple snacks (because “hangry” is real and small).
  • Shade plan: aim for shade around nap time if we do stroller-nap.
  • Bathroom scouting: identify toilets early—future-us will applaud past-us (again).
